Bible Study and Hermeneutics
I will be speaking at a pastor's conference in Austin, TX, on Inner-Biblical Interpretation, that is, how later Scriptures interact with, interpret, and build upon earlier Scriptures. For instance, we'll spend some time exploring Isaiah's application of the exodus narrative to the future messianic salvation. When we learn to "read the Bible backwards," we always keep an eye on the influence of early parts of the Bible, especially the Torah, on later writings.
Hymns | Sacred Music | Theology
On Saturday morning, November 4, 2017, I will be speaking at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Pueblo West, CO, on "Theology Must Sing." We'll be discussing the history, place, and purpose of hymns in the worship of the church. A lunch and hymn sing will follow. Come join us!

Reformation | Celebration | Learning
Conference Website: herewestillstand.org
"The year October 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his 95 Theses to the Castle Church door in Wittenberg, Germany. This act jump-started the Protestant Reformation that spread the Good News far and wide that God saves sinners by grace alone through faith alone for the sake of Christ alone—that people are justified as a pure gift on God’s part, totally apart from any of our best works or perceived goodness. His salvation is free at the beginning, middle, and end." Please consider joining me, along with 20 other speakers, at this conference in San Diego, CA.
